Then Jesus took the disciples to the upper room and told them what would happen. How he would be betrayed, by one of his disciples. Jesus said it would be one who was eating with them at that time.Judas had said to the high priests and chief priests how much will you give me to give you Jesus, they said thirty pieces of silver, so they agreed that Judas was to betray Jesus. While Jesus and his disciples where in the upper room Jesus took bread and gave thanks for it and broke it, saying, "This is my body broken for you take eat until I return." In the same manner Jesus took the wine and gave thanks for it and said "This is my blood shed for you take drink until I come again."While Jesus was praying in the garden of Gethsemane Judas came with a crowd. Judas had told them that it would be the one that he kissed. As soon as Judas had kissed Jesus some in the crowd grabbed Jesus, one of the men with Jesus grabbed a sword and cut off the ear of a high priest. Jesus was arrested and taken to the high priests house Caiaphas. The leading priests and the entire high council, where there to try and get rid of Jesus. People kept on making false stories about Jesus. A high priest said to him are you the Messiah the Son of God, Jesus replied, “Yes as you say.” The people then beat him and hit him and spat on him.Peter was watching from afar, someone said this is one of them, but Peter said no, again someone said here is one of his followers, again Peter said No. Then a bystander said you have a Galilean accent you must be one of them. Peter said I don’t know him. Immediately the rooster crowed and Peter knew what he had done and he went and cried. As it was Passover Jesus was taken to the Roman governor Pilate. Pilate asked Jesus “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus replied, “Yes as you say.” As many people told their false stories about Jesus, Jesus remained silent.During Passover Pilate would release one prisoner as the crowds gathered Pilate went out and asked, “Which of these two men do you want me to release Jesus the King of the Jews or Barabbas!”The Crowd shouted Barabbas, Pilate said and what about Jesus. The crowd shouted Crucify him! Pilate asked why? The crowd just shouted Crucify him even louder. Pilate then took a bowl of water and washed his hand before the crow saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this man. The responsibility is yours!”The Roman soldiers led Jesus away, they striped Jesus and gave him a purple robe, they put a crown of thrones on his head and a sceptre in his hand, they mocked him, they spat on him, they beat him.Jesus was led to Golgotha (which means skull Hill) there they crucified him between two criminals. There was a sign placed over Jesus saying This is the King of the Jews.As people walked passed they mocked Jesus saying save yourself, come down if you are God. At noon darkness fell across the whole land, until three o’clock. Then Jesus called out, “My God, my God why have you forsaken me?”Then Jesus called out, “It is Finished,” he then bowed his head and gave up his spirit. A Roman officer at the cross saw all that happened that day and said, “Truly this was the son of God.Jesus was taken down from the cross as he was dead, a man named Joseph of Arimathea, went to Pilate to take Jesus body to be buried in Josephs tomb. Pilate agreed and Joseph took the body of Jesus, wrapped him up in long linen cloth and placed him in his own new tomb.On the Sunday morning Mary and Mary Magdalene came to the tomb but the stone was rolled away, An Angel was there and said do not be afraid, He is not here He is Risen. The two Mary’s went to see and true enough his body was gone and he had risen.Jesus then appeared to many people about five hundred in all, before he went back to heaven. Before Jesus went to heaven he told his disciples one thing“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” |
